LEARN ABOUT DOSHAS: YOUR OWN UNIQUE FORMULA FOR FOOD AND ENERGY

Ayurveda is an ancient science of healing that uses your unique blend of the 5 foundational elements of earth, water, fire, air, and space to define your Dosha. Each person has a combination of these 5 building block elements in various proportions that shapes your body and mind, appearances and behaviors, eating habits and emotions.

Vedic Spelled out!

So Doshas are biological energy patterns in the human body that guide and govern how a person processes whatever they take in - food, water, air, thoughts, and the environment. As you can see, Doshas play a dynamic role in how they respond to the current weather, the conditions around you and even the circumstances you're placed in.

There are 3 principal Dosha types:

1. Vata Dosha

This type of energy is composed of air and space, so it's a high-frequency energy. People that are predominantly filled with Vata energy tend to be lean or lighter in weight, move quickly, and can sometimes be nervous. Vata energy helps people in creativity, curiosity, and self-expression. If you have a predominantly Vata energy, you tend to be enthusiastic, excited, and open to new experiences. You can have quick emotions, quick bursts of energy, and may experience sudden spurts of fatigue.

When your Vata is in balance: there is creativity and enthusiasm

When your Vata is out of balance: it can cause anxiety and overwhelm

To maintain a healthy Vata:

  • Regular eating and sleeping habits are vital
  • Getting plenty of rest, and ensuring balanced exercise keeps your energy active
  • Avoid heavy or frantic exercise, and choose gentle yoga or tai chi or walking
  • Warm cooked foods, beans, rice, and nuts are good foods to include in your diet
  • Try our Vata Balancing Formula to restore and maintain a balanced Vata

2. Pitta Dosha

The Pitta energy is composed of fire and water which, when balanced, enables Pitta types to be determined, strong decision makers, speakers, and leaders. They tend to be of medium build, a warm body temperature, good digestion, and sound sleeping habits. People with predominantly Pitta energy have an intense or fiery temperament, a sharp wit, and a strong appetite.

When your Pitta is in balance: it leads to contentment and a sharp intellect

When your Pitta is out of balance: it can cause anger and may lead to heartburn and ulcers

To maintain a healthy Pitta:

  • Stay cool, by avoiding overexposure to harsh sunlight and heat
  • Choose fresh vegetables and fruits that are juicy, such as cucumbers, watermelons, and mangoes
  • Including dark greens in your diet, such as kale and collards are important
  • Avoid alcohol and smoking, as it can lead to negative emotions like hatred or hostility
  • Try our Pitta Balancing Formula to restore and maintain a balanced Pitta

3. Kapha Dosha

Kapha energy is composed of water and earth, which makes Kapha characteristics steady, stable, slow, and strong. People with Kapha energy tend to have a strong build, sound digestion, and a comfortable routine. When their energy is out of balance, Kapha energy types are resistant to change and cling to jobs, relationships, and situations that are no longer healthy.

When your Kapha is in balance: you express yourself in love and forgiveness

When your Kapha is out of balance: it can lead to overweight, insecurity, and stubbornness

To maintain a healthy Kapha:

  • It's important to be active every day, in order to avoid sluggishness and becoming overweight
  • Seek new experiences, be receptive to change, and create a forward momentum of positivity
  • Choose foods that are light, warm and spicy, like ginger tea, and avoid fatty, processed foods
  • Include spices such as cumin, chili, and black pepper to encourage healthy digestion
  • Try our Kapha Balancing Formula to restore and maintain a balanced Kapha

The benefits of learning more about your Dosha and keeping it in balance is a preventative way to take care of your health so you can avoid illnesses caused due to imbalances, and therefore expensive treatments.
